I was able to download and install FlightGear on my home machine with your advice and help. Unfortunately, I am running into trouble on my work machine. I was able to download everything once I figured out it was a firewall problem, but when I run the scripts I get the attached errors for SimGear, and similar ones for FlightGear. As far as I know I am doing everything the same way I did at home. I even reinstalled cygwin!
