Look up the atis frequency of your local airport  (Googling with 
"ATIS" and the relevent airport ICAO code seems to get the 
frequency in the first 5 hits every time).  Tune into it with the comm 
radio.  You should then see the atis display, *if* the airport is in the 
atis database.  The atis database (default.atis) is built from the 
DAFIF data and there is a chance of finding an airport in default.apt 
that was not in the DAFIF, but most European and US airports with 
ATIS should be in.
