So you might want to uninstall it befre running your self compiled binaries.

The downloadable packages are a subset of what's on the CD's.

I believe it's time to drop your 'Linux ignorance' and try at least to
understand the simplest functionality of the distribution you are using.
Not knowing how to deal with the package manager is no excuse. SuSE ships
excellent documentation. If there are still question _after_ reading the
appropriate parts of the SuSE handbook I'll be happy to help out,
