KUDD is a combination golf and aviation community in the south Palm
Springs area.  Their clubhouse has a rather nice restaurant and the
usual landing fees are waived if you go and have a meal.  Nice people.
Bonus:  It is slightly further from San Diego than the legal minimum
of 50nm for the trip to count as a cross country for student pilots 8-).
It even has an instrument approach, even though it's in the desert,
which is an equally good excuse to stop in when doing IFR training.
And no, I can't afford to live there either.  Recommended to visit ...!

Curt:  Given that it takes several manyears to finish a homebuilt,
it would be rather frustrating to live in such a commmunity and be
unable to fly.  Just how much spare time do you plan to have (grin) ?
