Just a quick reminder about the 0.7.9 release.

Friday (8 Feb 02) is the cutoff for submitting new features for the
0.7.9 release.

Starting Saturday (9 Feb 02) through next Friday (15 Feb 02) will be a
time for bug fixes only.

I'm hoping to release 0.7.9 on Saturday (16 Feb 02).

In the next week, hopefully we can get as many people as possible to
download, compile, and test so we can eliminate as many stupid
glitches and platform specific bugs as possible. Please be aware that
there isn't some computer god of all platforms and compilers that
automatically does this for us. This project is for, by, and of
volunteers who are doing this in their spare time, so we have no paid
testers. If you want flightgear to work on your platform, you need to
be in there during this process trying out the pre-release releases
and making sure they work for you. If you don't participate now, and
0.7.9 doesn't work for you, then you have only yourself to blame.

(Disclaimer: there are a few poeple experiencing problems where it's
not clear if it is the system or the application, and the primary
developers are unable to reproduce them. I don't mean to imply that
these sorts of problems are always the fault of the end user, and
there may not be any easy fix for these sorts of things for the 0.7.9
release.)

(Next disclaimer: of course bug reports are helpful and useful and we
appreciate all of those that we get. However, submitting a bug report
*and* a patch to fix the problem is much preferrable. :-) Again, we
are all volunteers so there's no one paid to scan the incoming bug
reports and crank out fixes. We all do the best we can with our
limited free time, but be aware that simply reporting a problem isn't
necessarily a guarantee it will be fixed for 0.7.9. Reporting a
problem and submitting a fix though is pretty safe bet.) :-)

Thanks to everyone who is contributing to 0.7.9!

Curt.
