Well, that's only partly convincing ...

  $ ls -l `which fgfs`
  -rwxr-xr-x  1 root  root  5648424 Feb 14 14:11 /usr/local/bin/fgfs*

  $ du -s /usr/local/share/flightgear/
  8209532 /usr/local/share/flightgear

so perl has still only 14% of the size of the fgfs binary (without
NetworkOLK, Weather and debugging symbols) and the perl directory
has only 0.11% of the size of my FlightGear directory.
