Hi,

Big problem. They can stall the aircraft for me at 3000 ft, except that the
ground is at 4800 ft. :)

No joking. I'm sure you'll be able to make the calculations if we stall her
at 6000 ft. Anyway, they should have that type of info already somewhere.

In regards to the modelling, I can get any info you want, and if I book it
in advance, I've also got a digital camera to my disposal. It's just
extremely strange how the SAAF operated their DC-3's. I'm still in
confusion as to what our Dak's are. Dc-3's modified to be C-47's, or C-47's
modified to be DC-3's.

But most of the guys said, what they'd want to see more than a DC-3, is a
DC-4, and I tend to agree with them. Everyone fusses a lot about the DC-3,
but personally, I like the 4 more than the 3. But, as I learned as a civvie
working with military personnel, if they want my opinion they'll give it to
me :-)

Just as a matter of interest. Did you know that a DC-4 that's fully fueled,
will run out of oil before it runs out of fuel. That's why in later years
they came out with the auxiliary fuel tank in the galley just behind the
cockpit.

In about 3 months time another Dak (this time a true DC-3) will operate out
of our base as well, which will give even more detail on the various types.

Regards

Danie Heath
