..reasons could be to help _predict_ flight dynamics _situations_, 
to optimize cruise performance, and for new experimental aircraft, 
help record flight data.  Comparing fdm data against the actual 
aircraft, also provides early warnings of failures.

..FDM data can also help provide accident data, and using radiolinks 
or some such, communication of these between aircraft can prevent 
accidents.

..in traffic, this can help _route_ traffic and advice pilot of 
traffic conflicts, possibly advicing of an evasion route or 
manouver.
