Huh?? You think that everybody should maintain his own .cvsignore files now? They are supposed to list all files that are not globally excluded and generated during the normal build process. I don't see where there is room for personal preferences. If I'm not happy with some, I can still provide a patch or change them locally. But in general they belong into CVS. They are in the repositories of Alsa, Wine, ImageMagick, XFree, Mesa, KDE, ...
