Curt, what is your position on the remaining SourceForge facilities? In particular I
am thinking of the bug tracker, and the project info page
"http://sourceforge.net/projects/flightgear/";. Personally I hardly ever look at it
because I have what I need and know nothing is there, but I would imagine that a
reasonable number of people find Flight Gear there and are puzzled by all the empty
sections. In particular there is a message in bold type saying "This Project Has Not
Released Any Files".

There is a link to the project home page, from where all the actual stuff can be
found. But it may not be obvious to a newcomer that the "CVS" link or the "Download"
link on the Home Page is going to lead somewhere other than the CVS or Files section
on SF, which he already knows are empty.

I know you don't want to use some of their facilities, and don't have time to go
through everything that's there and customise it all, so can I just make a few
suggestions?

- Put at least one file into the "Files" section. The latest Windows binary package,
base package and source package might be a reasonable selection. (The casual
downloader would discover later that they need PLIB etc, but at least they're getting
hooked by that stage.) Or even just a text file pointing the reader to the home page.
Anything to make that message go away.

- I don't know to what extent you can edit that project info page, but if you can
remove irrelevant sections like "Surveys (0 surveys)" and "CVS Repository (0 commits,
0 adds)" that would be great.

- Add a message (in the project description at the top, if that's the only bit you can
change) saying something like "Please visit the project home page
(http://flightgear.org/) to find the files, the CVS repository, the mailing lists etc.
The only thing here on SourceForge is the bug tracker."

- Close at least the following bugs in the bug tracker:
471112 Visual zoom out squashes and twists view (I fixed it just before
Christmas)
471118 Turn ball flickers from side to side. (It seems to have been fixed)

- Can the bug tracker be made to send a notification to this mailing list of each
addition and change? If other people agree, I'd like that. (I know an individual can
request notifications on a specific report.)

Just my thoughts for the day...

- Julian
