I'm a bit lost here. Why do you need a packet length? For UDP or TCP? Offhand, I can not see a need for it. > Minimal required MTU to be supported by a TCP/IP > implementation is 576bytes (-8 for UDP-header) so our > set maximum of 512 'pure' data should allow for all > thinkable extensions(header data). It is also not necessary to throw everything and the kitchen sink into a single struct and attempt to send that via a single packet. > > protocol, I think you should > > play Warbirs 2.7x. Frankly, I do not see the need for this. FG is not Warbirds. And I believe the current MP goals are not the same. Besides, FG is more of a R&D environment first, than a commercial development venture. > 4) plane warping is a 'fact of life' no 100% fixes > exist or can exist without lowering ping-limit. Warping is only an issue in a combat sim. And even then, it is only an issue when you are in a knife fight doing some serious ACM. Which why its an issue with Warbids and Dawn of Aces and those genre sims. Warping is not (at least, should not) be an issue with a moden jet fighter combat sim. It is definitely not an issue at all in a GA sim. Unless you want to play as unreal as it get and throw all VFR and IFR separation standards out the window. :-) -- Billy _______________________________________________ Flightgear-devel mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mail.flightgear.org/mailman/listinfo/flightgear-devel
