David replies: > Very nice -- we can use these to add more taxiways and aprons. I think they could be handy as underlays for manually doing taxiways. However, they appear not to provide a reliable known coordinate on the photo and an accurate scale, so they would only be useful for manual stuff. It does occur to me that it might be easy to have the GIMP match the pattern of runways (from our database) against the picture, to recover the geographic scale, in an automated and bulk procedure. This would enable the picture to be automatically cropped into a texture that is used to replace all non-runway and non-taxiway textures (and their coordinates) at a given airport. This would look nice for taxi, and be easier to do local area recognition from the air. Of course, for the non-free images which are dirt cheap on a per airport basis (given the scripting above), I note the absence of any licence comments on the site ... leading to the question of whether I could give my custom scenery patch to others afterwards. _______________________________________________ Flightgear-devel mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mail.flightgear.org/mailman/listinfo/flightgear-devel
