Andy, this is really working great. I just completed a short instrument flight with autopilot and landing and ran into no problems.
Seeing this now I'm wondering if it'd be a good or bad idea to create transparent 2D panel overlays (or underlays?) for the purpose of mapping out hotspots for manipulating 3D instruments. It seems like it might be difficult to maintain. But, on the other hand the x/y coordinate scheme used in defining the 2D panel callbacks might actually be more powerful and straight forward. Thinking for example about what it would take to rotate a 3D knob right and left. Would this be a kludge or does it make sense? Or could the code you've just done be adapted for this kind of purpose?
