Just a couple things ...

If you have a nvidia card and linux have a look at this section of the
readme:

  __GL_DEFAULT_LOG_ANISO GeForce/GeForce2/GeForce4 MX Description
  -----------------------------------------------------------------------
  0 No anisotropic filtering
  1 Enable automatic anisotropic filtering

  __GL_DEFAULT_LOG_ANISO GeForce3/GeForce4 Ti Description
  -----------------------------------------------------------------------
  0 No anisotropic filtering
  1 Low anisotropic filtering
  2 Medium anisotropic filtering
  3 Maximum anisotropic filtering

If you set the "__GL_DEFAULT_LOG_ANISO" to an appropriate value for
your card, you will get sharper textures, especially with the runway
markings. Very cool. You can probably do similar things with nvidia
cards on other platforms, and probably something similar on the high
end ATI cards?

You may have to trade a bit of rendering performance for the sharper
textures, but it's definitely interesting.
