If we -don't- have permission, then it's an incompatible license.
It should be made clear when getting permission that modifications are
likely to be made.
We have a compatible license. I was very careful to explain that my request was to get permission to use their models under the GNU GPL. The related email correspondence on this is in the ~/Aircraft/*/Models/uiuc dir (uiuc to be obsolete).

While I cannot speak for Curt, my interpretation "assuming we have the author's permission to do so" is out of courtesy to the creator.

So these are GNU GPL models plain and simple.

(Unfortunately, I was not able to secure a GPL model for the Fokker triplane model, which I hope to post sometime today.)
