Norman sent me an interesting link last night:

    ftp://edcsgs9.cr.usgs.gov/pub/data/srtm/GDPS/United_States/

This is both 30m and 90m SRTM data for the USA. I'm downloading it
right now. We'll have to build a preprocessing tool to handle their
(very simple) data format, and then do quite a bit of crunching ...
In theory, this should *really* help those spots around specific
airports where the old DEM terrain elevation just doesn't agree with
published airport elevation ... we'll see. I won't even guess at an
ETA for scenery. :-)

Regards,

Curt.
