That would be fine if there existed only one type of input for each possible function, but the problem is that different radios use different methods. For example, some autopilots can be turned on or off separately from the function selection, and some cannot. Our internal /controls and /radios property trees should represent the logic behind the different states, not one physical method for entering them. It really isn't hard to set the right states in the configuration file for a specific 2D instrument.
