I use Debian Sid, and I suffered from the same problem. I first
thought it had something to do with the transition from gcc2.95 to
gcc3.2 Debian is now going through, (all my c++ progs started acting funky),
but I then upgraded the driver (downloaded from nVidia's site), and the
problem is now gone (spooky.... :) reminds me of windows)
Try using the latest drivers from nVidia (and make sure you
remove the "GLCore" library from the modules-section of the
XFree86-4 file).
