Hi, ulator which among other things demonstrate an IFR Primary display based on a digital 3D map. basically instead of displaying a ADI/HSI display we give a 3D world as a background and additional flight and navigation symbology.
We also have a 3D tactical display which is an expansion of what you called Terrain-aided navigation. It's a 3D map overplayed by tactical information like routs, avoidance zones, ILS cones, TCAS display etc. I'm currently trying to find ways to utilize FlightGear for that project. As for DTED data, I suppose that u need a model of our homeland, and that you need to run it in FlightGear. For FlightGear you can download scenery from : http://www.flightgear.org/Downloads/world-scenery.html It's a shitty level 0 data so 4 example the Carmel looks like a small bup in the terrain but it's the easyest way to go. You can also download from: http://edcdaac.usgs.gov/gtopo30/gtopo30.html It's also level 0 data but ... I didn't find a FREE Level 1 data yet. There is a Level 1 data from the Ofeck company but they want money for that data. I have some of that data at work but since it's propriety data I can't just give it 2 you. I'm trying to compile FlightGear scenery from that data but didn't succeed yet. Currentlly stuck on TerraGear compilation issues. I need to submit a project about terrain-aided navigation, and I need to run some simulations (and somehow, I feel that using synthetic-noise maps is much like cheating). A brief search on the web lead me to nowhere (I didn't look at the right places, I suppose), except for some 3DS meshes (which are either synthetic, or not equally distributed as a grid, or broken links.... :) ). Thanks a million, Elady. __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
