Hi, ..it _is_ OT: cvs as company data backup server engine?
..I'm doing a company data backup server for a client, and while I like to keep thing simple but _firmly_ solid, and it struck me I could get _paid_ to take the time to do something useful to FG too; learn to use cvs. ;-) ..my idea is use cvs as a data backup server engine to _promptly_ back up whatever new file is saved, to cvs, and instead do the backup to the tape, off the cvs "code" base, rather than the traditional way, full, incremental, differential etc, off the file systems, every hour, day, week etc. ..added bonus I can see, is the end user can get back the exact version of whatever file (s)he managed to wipe off the firm's disk, in a cvs-web-like interface, and I believe the backups can be automated transplarently, but then again, what do I know about cvs? ;-) ..pointers to anyone who beat me to this idea is _much_ appreciated, as are pointers to resources telling me I'm an idiot thinking this is possible. Thank you anyway. :-) -- ..med vennlig hilsen = with Kind Regards from Arnt... ;-) ...with a number of polar bear hunters in his ancestry... Scenarios always come in sets of three: best case, worst case, and just in case. _______________________________________________ Flightgear-devel mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mail.flightgear.org/mailman/listinfo/flightgear-devel
