I remember exactly 0% of the flight or the airport, but my family flew
into La Paz when I was 5. Another interesting airport is Cuzco, Peru
which I believe is at about 11,500' ASL. In 1999 we went to
Cuzco/Machu Picchu. On departure in a 727, fully 5 minutes (300
seconds) into the flight, we were still seeing terrain straight,
horizontaly out our window. I can't imagine flying that approach or
departure in any kind of bad weather. There is some unbelievably
rugged landscape in the Andes Mts. Beats pretty much anything you'd
find in north america.
