Now that's pretty close to insane, if not crossing well past the line... :-) The main benefit to using a gazillion pc's and monitors is you get extremely dense resolution. The downside is the large number of discontinuities in the display. It would be interesting to test this against a system that used 3 (or maybe 5) projected displays. You could cover a lot more area, be a lot more immersive, but your arcsec/pixel rate (effective ability to draw fine detail) will drop and you would have the cost of extra projectors. Note that FlightGear should have [working] native support for this sort of thing in the 0.9.2 version. If you can get fast enough hardware to lock in at 60 fps on *all* displays, then it runs *very* smoothly.
