Hi I've got some info on racing courses and want to model one somewhere in the KSFO area so that it will be in the default scenery files.
As far as I can tell a lot of the courses are set up for local airshows and then taken down I suppose. I found this: http://www.formulav.com/racemap.htm which shows the dimensions of the formula V course. I was thinking of exactly how to determine the distances in FG and thought I'd just place the pylons at the appropiate Long. Lat.'s .. so then I found a page on how to convert to miles but the problem is.. it involves some pretty deep math: Number 5-3a I think does this: http://www.mentorsoftwareinc.com/resource/snyder30.htm I am still looking for a simpler formula but have started to think I may be overkilling the problem a bit. Does anyone know if there is an easier way to put the course on the ground than this? I really like the idea of having races and want this to be as accurate as possible to go along with the spirit of FlightGear! Also, as I dont want to over step any bounderies here, is this worth persueing and if so has anyone else started doing anything along these lines? Appreciate any input.
