Hi, a while ago, I asked the people at skyscraperpage.com the authorization to use their diagrams to model buildings. The answer was positive and enthusiastic and the result was the two downtown SF buildings and the Sutro tower. I will certainly add some in the future but if there are modelling apprentice here, they can go to their site and jump into building creation.
Now there is a guy that is writing me to offer diagrams of guyed towers he made. See below his mail and my reply. -Fred Devin Barnes wrote: > Hey, I am one of the illustrators at skyscraperpage.com, > and i have posted a few replies to the thread but havent > recieved a reply from anyone on the site, so i thought > talking to you would be a better idea. Hi Devin, I am not following the discussions at skyscraperspage.com, so that's why I didn't reply. > My illustrator name is Devin, i have drawn many guyed > masts and you are welcome to use them, their heights are > exact (all from the FCC) > the two main ones i have done in california are the > KXTV/KOVR Tower and the Hearst-Argyle Tower which are > both in Walnut Grove, CA. > another thing, will Kansas City, MO and other cities be > represented over time? That's very interesting, because we are concentrating on landmarks that are visible from the sky and can be used for navigation, or are known obstacles. The San Francisco Bay Area is our 'home scenery' but the whole Earth is modelled with available satellite data. Kansas City is in it but only with horizontal marking : Known rivers, urban zone, fields and forest are located using different textures and the mountains are there. The download page for sceneries is there : http://www.flightgear.org/Downloads/world-scenery.html We (at FlightGear) still need to build a repository of models for inclusion with the terrain data. I certainly will not model the whole earth myself. We are seeking contributors that are able to do 3D modelling. There is a wiki page that introduce the process here: http://www.seedwiki.com/page.cfm?doc=modelerandscenerybuilderdocumentation&wikiid=2418&wpid= > if you need some help with guyed masts you can email me > at [EMAIL PROTECTED] but just in case, you can find > information at > http://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/AsrSearch/asrRegistrationSearch.jsp > that is a database by the FCC which includes thousands > (if not millions) of towers etc... in the United States > and its islands (territory's like Puerto Rico etc...) > Thank you and have a nice day, and i wish you well. May I post this message to our mailing list in order to generate interest in modelling these towers ?
