Last times I'm experiencing a weird problem. I have the yesterday's CVS
SimGear, FlightGear+base and plib. All compiled and installed by
myself. When I run FGFS, I hear that beeping (ATC morse code) and then
all the sounds just mute! Other games and sound apps work fine though
(also tuxracer, tux_aqfh and tuxcart - all plib based). I'm using Alsa
0.9.6 (also manually compiled) and I have primary SB Live! on PCI and
SB AWE64 on ISA (both have the same problem - I replaced the dsp, audio
and mixer links) sound cards. Now I'm not sure exactly from when this
problem occured on, but it all started two weeks ago, when I bought my
SBLive, installed new Alsa drivers and completely recompiled FG with
all the latest CVS stuff (I have threads enabled). Now I explored this issue for quite a while. I think there's something wrong with buffer somewhere. Aplay (wav player for Alsa) managed to play all wavs from the FG Sounds directory EXCEPT jet.wav! It said: ??? Playing WAVE 'jet2.wav' : Unsigned 8 bit, Rate 11025 Hz, Mono ??? aplay: set_params:851: Can't use period equal to buffer size (5513 == 5513) and didn't play anything. However, when playing with ordanary "play" program, it sounded fine. When looking at the FlightGear output (no matter which airport or aircraft) while initializing and flying, I spotted this: ??? ... ??? Panel visible = 0 ??? Playing audio after 0 sec: rumble ??? Playing audio after 0 sec: squeal ??? Tile not found (Ok if initializing) ??? scheduling needed tiles for -122.358 37.6117 ??? load() base = /home/matevz/fgfs/data/Scenery ??? Loading tile /home/matevz/fgfs/data/Scenery/w010s10/w001s01/2938495 ??? slDSP: getBufferInfo: Broken pipe ??? load() base = /home/matevz/fgfs/data/Scenery ??? Loading tile /home/matevz/fgfs/data/Scenery/w010n00/w001n00/2938503 ??? ... I'm pretty sure that when the first tile was loaded, the sound failed. Now I'm just compiling FG without threads and will try again in an hour or so. However I'm pretty out of ideas (most possibly there's something wrong with Alsa driver and will have to wait for the new one:() and would like to know if anyone of you had any problems like me with Flight Gear? - Matevz |
