Modern helos have an auto-throttle that keeps the rotor in a specified
RPM range, but they still have a throttle control somewhere. The
throttle was often a "twist" control on the collective handle.
But regardless, you are correct -- the collective is not an engine
control. It controls the global ("collective") angle of attack of the
rotor blades; as opposed to the stick, which controls the variation of
blade AoA as the blade rotates (thus it's the "cyclic" control).
And to pour just a little more water on Melchior's patch, it's
probably much easier to just map the throttle property input in
reverse using the configuration files. No need to hack at C++ for
this problem.
