A few days ago Blender 2.30 was released[1]. The most important changes were done to the GUI. See http://www.blender3d.org/ for a list of further changes. The ac3d import/export scripts that worked for 2.28 do still work with 2.30.

[1] The 2.30 release is officially called "pre-release", but it's
a full release. Don't ask. ;-)
