Actually, it start out life as "Nasl", which was an acronym for "Not
Another Scripting Language".  There wasn't much purpose behind that
name either, but it was reasonably descriptive.  And similar thinking
had led earlier to YASim, which has done relatively well as names go.

But alas, it wasn't to be.  It turns out that the Nessus network
security project (www.nessus.com) have had their own "Nessus Attack
Script Language" for several years.  The world just isn't big enough
for two NASLs, unfortunately.* They emailed me just days after I had
posted to Freshmeat.

[* Yeah, right.  Like I was going to fight this and make enemies of a
   whole project full of network security experts.]

Anyway, at that point I was too lazy to go through the code to change
the naXXX's to something else.  Calling it "Nasal" got me out of
trouble with the scary white hats and allowed me to keep the
pronunciation and the C prefix.
