It's a pity there is not an easy fix for this problem but I would be happy with less accurate terrain elevation around the airports if it means I don't have to land in canyons or mountain tops anymore. There must be a better way of merging airport and terrain data. One of my favorite airports is about 120 feet higher than the surrounding terrain. The runway looks like an artificial mountain range.
