I found that I needed to rotate the model 90 degrees when I tried using 
the .3ds format in FG.

I doubt there's any easy way to convert the model and the texture mapping 
- none of the s/w I've used can do it.  Most s/w just seems to 
concentrate on getting the geometry converted - you'll probably have to 
re-apply the textures manually in AC3D.
