At the moment it's only the scenery which works in this way but we're going to need to do the same for aircraft in the near future as well as other "stuff".

The first step towards that direction has been taken by making sure all Yasim and UIUC aircraft can live inside their own directory. This means they can have all their configuration, model and support files inside one directory. That makes it easy to extract the aircraft file inside FlightGear/data/Aircraft and one would have a new aircraft.



Something similar has still to be done for JSBSim aircraft. After that we need a central place to store the add-on aircraft.

If that's done we can move some of the aircraft out of the base package.
