I fully agree with the MRP idea. It is just an arbitrary point in the model.
Alan,
I don't see a real argument in this translation you talk about. The computonal
cost of this single translation is peanuts compared to the computations done
elsewhere in flightgear.
Also If you prefer to have the POS for the origin of your models you can use
POS=MRP for you and you are done.
So, I think everyone can be happy with the MRP thing!
