You don't need to do anything short term. YASim will fill out the tank record for you at initialization (it has hard-coded values for gasoline and jet fuel). But ultimately, this stuff should move out of the FDM proper and into the aircraft configuration, since it needs to interact with the rest of the system through the property tree.
