A couple of weeks ago, I started exploring the idea of flight plans to control automatic AI traffic, inspired by a similar project for microsoft flightsimulator, called projectai (http://www.projectai.com). Although I've come up with a few ideas how AI traffic should behave, that is, the necessary parameter that need to be included in the flight plans, I don't have any code yet. The idea would be to have a sort-of top level flight plan "dispatcher" interact with and create AI traffic "on the fly", based on range parameters. Adding full dynamic AI traffic is a rather large project, and like Erik and David, I'm very limited in time, so I don't expect this to appear in FlightGear soon.
