That would supply only a sliding friction force to the tires, which would be way too low, if the surface was horizontal. If you are referring to a vertical surface, that would then be dependent on some kind of spring damper associated with the gear. That's no good, either. In reality, the catapult imparts a force on the aircraft, and that's how it should be modeled.
