I agree. I started with AC3D, but moved to blender because I found it much faster and more flexible. I don't like having all the animation and rendering stuff lying around, but I have learned to ignore that part of the interface. It doesn't slow it down either, it's a very speedy program. PS, I'm in the middle of a big model (B29) and would be happy to share tips both on blender and general modeling.
