Hi Erik & Roy

I don't mind having a go at a 3d cockpit model I can get good
drawings and dimensions for it.

What I've been thinking recently about 3d models is that it might
be best to make the panel and interior first, and then model the
exterior to fit it. I say this because after making an external
model that appears to fit the 3-views, if there's any real
curvature to the cockpit region, it's very easy to find that you
haven't enough room. I figure it should also make the cockpit
view more accurate.

For any aircraft that we have access to it's possible to get very
accurate dimensions for the panels quite easily and without
having to take many measurements - all that's really needed are
some basic measured dimensions i.e. width & height plus some
photographs of the panel, taken as straight-on as possible, with
a reference (say two short measured lengths of thin, stiff wire
at right-angles) laid against the panel. It shouldn't be too
difficult to work out accurate instrument placement from that.

The only problem with doing the interior this way might mean that
it won't fit well into the existing model very well.

p.s. Erik: someone on the user list wants to stop the YASim
legacy engine definition message from your pa28. I can have a
look at it if you want but I know it's really your baby:)
