Hello!

I’m trying to get FlightGear to work with OpenGC and had a few questions for you:

  1. Are people still using OpenGC with FlightGear, or has everyone switched over to the 3d cockpit? It doesn’t look like there have been any discussions about it for the past few years.
  2. Right now, I’m setting the parameters using the system.fgfsrc file. If I understand it correctly, we’re trying to get away from using this file altogether and use the preferences.xml file instead. If this is true, could someone give me an example of what the parameters look like when specifying them in the .xml file?
  3. At this point, I haven’t succeeded in getting FlightGear to talk to OpenGC. I’ve tried to run it on the same computer as FlightGear using the following command in system.fgfsrc:
    --opengc=socket,out,24,127.0.0.1,5800,udp
I’ve also tried to run it on another computer by specifying the other computer’s IP address to no avail. Any hints? When I debug the FlightGear code, the socket gets set up OK and it looks as if data is being sent.
It also looks like data is being received on the other end (when I send data to another computer) but in every case, nothing happens on the OpenGC window. I’m currently running version 0.5.6 (precompiled version)

Thanks a lot for any help you can give!

/Pat
