If Curt prefers to have a 'stock' set of files for Scenery generation
we still could prepare a set of shapefiles for him. As he is already
comfortable with the shapefile library this could be the next step to
harmonise the format of the source data and eliminate the need for the
VPF reader ;-)

Does osgPlanet allow for contour lines for elevation data instead of
DEM's ? Do you have a suggestion how to convert the DEM's into a set of
contour lines without creating horrible bloat or loosing precision ?
