BTW this is what I think FG is all about. We discuss things here that
no flight sim has ever thought of doing AFAIK, like displaying wing
warping and flex in the visual model tied to the flight model. Does
MSFS even think of doing that? We may not have everything, but the
people in this group do have a sense of adventure and can envision
things beyond the ordinary.

No only that but there are so many attractive features for those who
want something beyond opening a shrink wrapped box and flying a
"dream" aircraft. I can edit a flight model in a text editor. I get a
choice of two flight data models. We have a wonderful property tree
where anyone can see what is going on in the simulation, whether they
are a curious novice or an expert. There are simulated electrical and
hydraulic systems scripted in a real easy to use and read scripting
language, not some arcane garbage shoved in XML files as an
afterthought. All this lowers the barrier to experimentation with the
system.

Can you imagine clicking on a web page and you're in flight gear. Fly
to a destination, click on the building, you're in someone's 3d VRML
house on their website, click on...
