FG uses ~90 meter DEM (SRTM3 version 2 => 3 arc second) FS9 (FS2004) uses ~1km in most areas but has varying resolution down to 76 meters depending on the location. I assume that's why the entire FG scenery package is so much bigger at the moment. FSX (Flight Simulator X) will use 38m resolution DEMs and better. In some places it will have 9 meter resolution mesh but the worst resolution will be 38 meters.
