v0.9.9 was really just v0.9.8 + Jon Stockill's object database. This
was my first attempt at rolling it all together and it really wasn't
anything "new" so I didn't make a big announcement to avoid triggering a
big needless download rush.
v0.9.10 is a complete rebuild with updated airports, updated terrain,
and updated objects. You should be able to run the v0.9.10 scenery with
v0.9.8 if you update your data/Models subdirectory.

It should be compatible, but you probably should do some testing to make
sure nothing odd comes up. There was a posting to the
FlightGear-annouce list detailing the improvements to the new scenery.
I think generally the response was that it was a big improvement ...
especially in areas where SRTM had problems fixed by SRTM2 and
especially in areas where there was conflicts between the GSHHS
shoreline database versus vmap0. There are a few issues with the new
scenery which I hope to dig into and address after the v0.9.10 FG release.

Definitely test for yourself, but it should work. And if you have
special needs for your project, please feel free to contact me off-list
and perhaps we can find reasonable ways to accomodate you.
Regards,
Curt.
