Thanks Roberto (and those who responded to his questions). The examples and discussion was very timely for my efforts to add instrument lights to the pa24 panel. I had included
setprop("/sim/model/material/instruments/factor", bus_volts*0.071428571);
tied to the nav-light switch in the pa24-electrical.nas file. 0.071428571 = 1/14 which normalizes the factor by the max voltage to be between 0 and 1. But was not sure how to use this to add instrument lights to the 3d instruments. This evening, I added the appropriate emissive animations to each of the 3d instruments I use with the pa24-250. Now the instruments all light if the master switch is on *and* the nav-light switch is on just like in the real Comanche. They dim as the battery discharges. I shot several ILS approaches "at night" in the fgfs pa24-250 and am very pleased with the changes to the flight model and MP gage mentioned in my 2/22 posting as well as the instrument lights. I loaded up the pa28-161 which uses some of these instruments and no functionality was lost in that ac by these emissive animation changes. I will send these patches to David Megginson tomorrow evening so they can be put in cvs.
