I will do it, but not now in the middle of the night when everybody is around... the solution has drawbacks, too --- I deliberately use a castrated windowing environment instead of KDE when working on the FG, to avoid the performance penalties that come with KDE, and that includes all the artsd footprint, too... Also, it'll create an audible nasty delay, I guess. So far, artsd has been the nastiest, heaviest, and crashiest of the audio daemons I tried, but the last time I checked was over a year ago.
