Well, it turned out that the problem was a bug in plib 1.8.4, but since fixed, that causes text to disappear when any part of it was clipped. However, even if the text was clipped correctly, to keep it legible the tutorial line lengths needed to be reduced, so I've got a simple patch for c172-tutorial.xml. The patch simply adds CRLFs to a number of instructions, so is quite safe for the upcoming 0.9.10 release.
