There is a balloon fdm in FlightGear but the last time I tried it 
I got some very strange results, and accelerations;)

I'd _would_ like to do some Zeppelins though...

You are absolutely right about incorporating the dynamic lift 
aspects of airships - it was a vital factor in their operation.
