If we were able to write FG so that it ran inside a web browser and we kept it free then it shouldn't be a problem. However if you take the imagery out of a web browser or out of Google Earth and use it in another app you'll have some nasty men knocking on your door pretty quickly. Some governments have actually banned the use of Google Maps and Google Earth for use in their departments due to the licensing. NASA World Wind may not have as up to date data or as much high-res data but at least you won't be taken to the cleaners if you use it in other applications.
