Hi again,

In the end, it wasn't that difficult to change the coefficients. But I
didn't yet figure out how to make a proper patch, so a diff with the
necessary changes (for the file coremag.cxx in simgear/magvar/) is
attached to this email. I hope it is useful.

Greetings,

Wim

Hi there,

I was browsing through the code of simgear and noticed that the
magnetic model used is the one defined in 2000. Since these magnetic
models are only valid for 5 years, it is outdated.

Sourcecode and documentation for the latest model (2005) can be
downloaded from here:

http://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/seg/WMM/wmm_cdownload.shtml (c-version)
http://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/seg/WMM/wmm_fdownload.shtml (fortran-version)

My knowledge of C++ is insufficient to create a patch myself, so I
though I'd send an email to the developers.

Greetings,

Wim
