Hi Yurik, Jon,

Displacement is the swept volume of the cylinders, eg. 1.6 litres for a
1.6 litre auto engine.

I'm working from memory right now, but the cylinder temperature model is
a simple 1D lumped capacity model IIRC, dependent on the rate of heat
generation within the engine and the rate of airflow over it. I tuned
it so that the C172 would get into the red on the guage if climbed out
at max power mixture, but would stay in the green if the mixture was set
rich for climb, but I don't think the CHT guage made it onto the panel
by default, so the model has had no TLC or feedback over the years. If
the displacement is an input, then I suspect it was an attempt to
non-dimensionalise engine size within the model, to make it valid for
any similar piston engine.

I'll take a look and try and be more helpful...

Cheers - Dave
