This sounds very similar to a crash that Maik Justus reported earlier this 
week, which seems to be triggered by the groundnetwork code. 
(groundnetwork.cxx, around line 807 to be precise).

Unfortunately, I can't reproduce the crash, which makes debugging a lot 
harder.
